Abstract

A large collection of combination and difference bands of $SF_{6}$ has been analyzed to determine new values for several anharmonic consants of $SF_{6}$. These constants are then used to predict positions of hot bands and to synthesize the absorption contours in the $\nu_{3}$ and $\nu_{4}$ regions. A Morse-Urey-Bradley force-field model is constructed which reproduces the values of eight observed stretching anharmonicities with an r.m.s. veviation of less than 20\%.
