Abstract

High resolution absorption and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectra of crystals of $Cs_{2} ZrCl_{6}$ doped with $ReCl_{6}{^{2}-}$ have been recorded over the spectral region 13 000 to $40 000 cm^{-1}$ at liquid helium temperature. The MCD spectrum shows all the extensive fine structure previously $reported^{1}$ in absorption but of course provides a wealth of additional information. A preliminary analysis of the spectrum will be reported and compared with the previous $one^{1}$ based only on absorption data.
