Abstract

The ozone molecule has its three fundamental, vibrations ν2,ν3,ν1 respectively located at 701cm−11042cm−1,1103cm−1. The pure rotational spectrum of these states has been studied in the range 10 - 120 GHz using a Stark effect spectrometer. The results obtained will be summarized. In the 10μm region, some transitions between the ν3 or ν1 state and the ground state are very close to CO2 laser emissions: on the one hand, the use of a CO2 waveguide laser allows the measurement of some absorption frequencies: on the other, a CO2 laser is used for optically pumping an ozone submillimeter laser. Some emission frequencies are given.
