Abstract

The first singlet-singlet ``broad'' vibronic bands of naphthalene-doped biphenyl crystal have been resolved. Very low temperature $(1-2^{\circ}K)$ spectra show a detailed ``rotational'' fine structure. The small energy (large amplitude) libration will be discussed in terms of intermolecularly hindered rotation. This technique is expected to yield ``rotational'' fine structure for many molecules too large for gas-phase rotational fine structure.
