Abstract

High resolution spectra of the TIN and TiO molecules have been examined to complete rotational constants of these molecules. The molecular spectra were excited in a radio frequency discharge through a flowing gas mixture at low pressures. The mixture containing argon, traces of $TiCl_{4}$ and a small amount of nitrogen was used to produce the TiN molecules. Bands of the $^{2}\Pi -^{2}\Sigma$ system were recorded. Rotational structure of the (1,1) band has been analyzed and rotational constants of the upper and lower states have been obtained. The TiO spectrum was excited using a mixture of argon, $TiCl_{4}$ vapor and oxygen. Bands of the $B^{3}\Pi - X^{3}\Delta$ system have been investigated. Rotational constants of the upper electronic state for the vibrational level v$ = 1$ have been determined.
