Abstract
Band spectra of HgTl, CdTl and Zntl have been obtained in emission by high frequency excitation. Bands of HgTl have also been obtained in absorption and in $fluorescence.^{1}$ These molecules show two types of band systems. One type consists of diffuse bands located close to thallium lines on the long wave length side. The other type consists of well developed sequences of bands degraded towards shorter wave lengths. The shading shows $r^{\ \prime}_{e}< r^{\ \prime \prime}_{e}$ and $w^{\ \prime}_{e}>w^{\ \prime \prime}_{e}$. These three molecules show systems corresponding to those observed for $HgIn^{2}$, CdIn, and $ZnIn^{3}$. The analysis of HgTl bands previously $reported^{1}$ has been revised to correspond to heads in P branches. For the red system of HgTl the constants are $\nu_{e}=15324.2\ \omega^{\ \prime}_{e}=82.2\ \omega^{\ \prime}_{e} x ^{\ \prime}_{e}=0.14\ \omega^{\ \prime \prime}_{e}=51.2\ \omega^{\ \prime \prime}_{e} x^{\ \prime \prime}_{e} =0.50 cm^{-1}$. One system of ZnTl shows an isotope effect consistent with ZnTl as the emitter. Probable dissociation products and band types are suggested.
