Abstract

A systematic study has been made of the formation of bimolecular complexes containing sulfur dioxide. Weakly bound species containing $SO_{2}$ and one of is other small molecules have been formed. The molecules studied ranged in size from $N_{2}$ to acetone. In each case, a supersonic nozzle expansion of argon containing $SO_{2}$ and a second molecule was studied as a function of $SO_{2}$ and molecular partner concentration. For each partner molecule, X, the intensities of $SO_{2}\cdot X, Ar\cdot X, Ar\cdot SO_{2}, (Ar)_{2}, (X)_{2},$ and $(SO_{2})_{n}$ were measured. Simple trends in this data were easily identified and will be discussed. Those complexes suitable for microwave spectroscopic study will also be identified.
