Using a He-Ne 50 mw laser as exciting source, the Raman spectra of the $S2=,S3=$ and $S4=$ were obtained from powders of the $Na2S2,SBa4,Na2S4$ and $BaS4\cdot 2H2O$ salts. Solutions in water and ethyl alcohol were also studied. Infrared spectra of nujol mulls of the above salts were obtained with Beckman IR-11 and IR-12 spectrophotometers. The results were interpreted in a straight-forward manner, $S3=$ being bent $(C2v)$ and $S4=$ a nonplanar chain of $C2$ symmetry.
