Abstract

An extensive family of Stark-split lines taken in $H_{2}C=CF_{2}$ using a laser frequency 890,760 MHz in both $\sigma$ and $\pi$ polarizations has been assigned to the parent transition J(ka,kc) = 47(40,8) + 46(40,7) in the ground vibrtional state. The parent frequency has been determined as 890,405 $\pm$ 2MHz. The $\Delta M=0$ spectrum follows rigorously an ME = constant relationship, the pattern predicted for near double degeneracy of the parent terms. Since the K-type doubling energy is comparable to the Stark interaction energy, an intermediate case between first-order and second-order Stark effect is seen. Computer calculations of energy levels made the final assignment possible.
