Abstract
New measurements of the HCN bands observed at $14{\mu}$ will be reported. The theory of ${\ell}$-resonance has been applied in interpreting the ``hot’’ bands ${2\nu_{2}}-{\nu_{2}}$. In applying this theory, several useful combination relations for evaluating the molecular constants have been developed. In the $02^{2}0$ state, the energy of the $\Delta_{c}$ component has been found to be higher than that of the $\Delta_{d}$ component unlike in the $01^{1}0$ state where $\Pi_{d}$ is higher than $\Pi_{c}$. Such a result was also recently found in the $C_{2}D_{2}$ and $C_{2}H_{2}$ bands studied in this laboratory. Data acquired with a heated absorption cell allowed us to reach very high J values in $\nu_{2}$ and enabled the study of several new ``hot’’ transitions.
