Abstract

Thermal Emission Spectra of CoCl Molecule have been photographed for the first time in an atmosphere of argon about a temperature of $2300^{\circ}C$ using Saha’s high temperature graphite furnace at a reciprocal linear dispersion of about 3.5 \AA/mm in green spectra region. The study reveals the presence of about 140 red degraded, line like bands which have been attributed tentatively into eleven entirely new systems. From the detailed analyses it was found that the ground of Cocl molecule in triplet with the vibrational constants 402.0, 414.8 and $421.0 cm^{-1}$. The nature of ground state of CoCl molecule will be discussed.
