Abstract
Joseph Stiglitz won the 2001 Nobel Prize in Economics (with George Akerlof and A. Michael Spence) for their work on the impact of asymmetrical
information of market systems.
Stiglitz has authored numerous books, including his most recent, The Roaring Nineties and Towards a New Paradigm in Monetary Economics. Other works include Globalization and Its Discontents, Peasants versus City Dwellers: Taxation and the Burden of Economic Development, and New Ideas About Old Age Security; Toward Sustainable Pension Systems in the 21st Century.
Stiglitz is currently Professor of Economics and Finance at the Columbia
University Graduate School of Business. He was previously on the faculties of Stanford, Princeton, Yale, and MIT. He also has been Senior Vice President and Chief Economist for the World Bank, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, and an Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and the Institute for Policy Reform.
