Abstract

The collisional widths of more than 400 transitions of the $H_{2}O$ molecule have been measured using a Fourier transform spectrum of an air-methane flame at 2000 K. Among these transition, more than 360 belong to the $n\nu_{2} -(n-1)\nu_{2}$ bands, and about 80 are purely rotational transitions. The results show a strong decreasing of the collisional widths when the rotational quantum number J increases, as well as a non negligible decreasing of the collisional widths when the $\nu_{2}$ vibrational quantum number increases.
