A water quality study of the Ottawa River in the vicinity of Lima, Ohio

Abstract

This report shows how the water of the Ottawa River is effected as it passes through the city of Lima, Ohio. The physical and chemical parameters considered were temperature, specific conductance, dissolved solids, pH, chloride and zinc, lead, chromium, cadmium, and strontium. Chemical data were determined for 16 water samples and compared with Public Health Service Recommended Limits. A discussion of each of the parameters examined and an explanation of their potential effects on health is provided. Also attempts were made to relate environmental effects to the existing condition of the River.
