Abstract

HF-broadened halfwidths have been determined for the first time in the $\nu_{3}$ band of HCN near $3312 cm^{-1}$ and in the 1-0 band of HCl near $2886 cm^{-1}$. These results were obtained from absorption spectra of cells filled with a 50-50 mixture of HF and $N_{2}$ which also contain small amounts of HCN, HCl and other gases. The spectra were recorded using a Fourier transform interferometer with nominal resolution $0.06 cm^{-1}$, and the halfwidth values were obtained through a nonlinear least-squares spectral fitting procedure. HCN $\nu_{3}$ lines were also analyzed in spectra of cells containing a mixture of HCl and $N_{2}$.
