Abstract

A report of the absolute intensity of $v_{3}$ of $CSe_{2}$ in the liquid (solution) and gas phases will be presented. The liquid value, when corrected for the dielectric effect of the solvent, is in good agreement with the gas phase value. The results indicate that further comparisons of infrared intensity data in the gas and liquid phases are highly desirable. The vibrational interaction force constants in the linear series of $CX_{2}$ and XCZ (X, Z-O, S, Se, or Te) molecules will also be discussed.
