Using the method which Dows and $Buckingham1$ applied to diatomic molecules, we have obtained expressions for the intensities of electric field induced transitions of axially symmetric molecules possessing a permanent dipole moment. Selection rules for these electric field spectra are found to be $\Delta J=0,\pm 2;\Delta K=0,\pm 1,\pm 2$. Observed frequencies would permit the determination of $A0$ and other molecular parameters, while observed intensities would yield information on dipole moments.
