Abstract

The emission and absorption spectra of single crystal TMCBOT have been measured at $1.6^{\circ} $K. The triplet nature of the transition has been determined by high field (120 kgauss) pulsed Zeeman absorption experiments. The 3nπ transition is predicted by spin-orbit calculations to be polarized solely along the C = S axis agreement with observation. The emission spectra and phosphorescence lifetimes have been run in the temperature range $1.6^{\circ} K - 16^{\circ} $K. A number of emission bands are observed to grow in as the temperature is decreased. The existence of exciton traps is indicated and will be discussed.
