Abstract
In 2006, Robin Post established a program and service-learning course intended to bring interactive theatre with socially conscious content to the university and the greater Columbus community. The program uses theatre as a vehicle to foster dialogue specific to challenging, controversial, or sensitive issues faced by those in the university community and beyond.
Description
IMPACT. 1: Students enrolled in InterACT receive diversity leadership and conflict resolution training, are introduced to theatre as a means to affect social change; and receive ensemble-building, devising, and interactive improvisational performance skills. -- 2. They are also provided with the unique opportunity to research, collaborate with and then perform for community partners. For example, the Institute for Human Services in Columbus trains professionals to work in the service of child-welfare and InterACT students will create and then perform a new theatre piece to be explored during a full day training workshop to upwards of 200 social workers.
