Abstract
The $\nu_{7}$ band of ethane was digitally recorded with a 3 m Ebert-type spectrometer et a resolution of $0.025 cm^{-1}$. The resolution was Improved to $0.015 cm^{-l}$ by deconvolution of the data using carbon monoxide lines to simulate the spectrometer split function. The accuracy of the wave number calibration is $0.0009 cm^{-1}$. Analysis of the band gave the following molecular parameters (in $cm^{-1}$) compared with those quoted earlier:$^{1}$ \begin{eqnarray*} B^{\prime\prime} = 0.663072 \pm 0.000014 \\ D_{J}^{\prime\prime} = 1.04 \pm 0.02 \times 10^{6} \\ D_{JK}^{\prime\prime} = (4.9 \pm 0.4) \times 10^{6} \\ \nu_{0} + A_{e} \delta_{e}^{2} + A_{7} - B_{7} - 2A_{e} \delta_{7} + 3 \eta_{7}^{k} - D_{7}^{k} = 2986.7255 \pm 0.0060 \\ {[2(A_{7}-B_{7})-2A_{e}{\delta}_{7}+{\eta} _{7}^{K}-4D^{K}_{7}]}=3.3528\pm 0.0028\\ {[(A_{7}-B_{7})-(A_{o}-B_{o})-6D_{7}^{K}+3{\eta}_{7}^{K}]}={0.113\pm 0.0009}\\ and\quad [4D_{7}^{K}-{\eta}_{7}^{K}]=(4.6\pm 1.2)x10^{-4} \end{eqnarray*} Errors quoted represent 1 standard deviation.
