Abstract
An extension of Moffitt's group theoretical means of assignment of the $^{1}A_{1g}\rightarrow _{^{1}}T_{1g}, {^{1}}A_{1g}\rightarrow {^{1}}T_{2g}$ transitions in Co $en^{+3}_{3}$ has been made for lower symmetry cases. The utility of the magnetic selection rules in assignment of transitions will be demonstrated for tetragonal and rhombic symmetry.
