An extension of Moffitt's group theoretical means of assignment of the $\mathrm{<mrow\; data-mjx-texclass="ORD">1</mrow>}A1g\to \mathrm{<mrow\; data-mjx-texclass="ORD">1</mrow>}T1g,\mathrm{<mrow\; data-mjx-texclass="ORD">1</mrow>}A1g\to \mathrm{<mrow\; data-mjx-texclass="ORD">1</mrow>}T2g$ transitions in Co $en3+3$ has been made for lower symmetry cases. The utility of the magnetic selection rules in assignment of transitions will be demonstrated for tetragonal and rhombic symmetry.
