Abstract

The V-V energy transfer rates for CO(v = 1) colliding with ground state GS2 have been measured by observing the quenching of IR vibrational fluorescence between 198 and 370 K. This work presents evidence that the V-V rate is actually determined by a multiquantum process . Theoretical calculations assuming a multiquantum process have been performed for CO(v=1)+CS2CO+CS2(101) and have been shown to be consistent with the experimental results.
