Knowledge Bank

The VCD spectrum of trans-1,2-dimethylcyclopropane has been measured between 3200 and $900cm-1$. As a saturated hydrocarbon $C5H10$ is the simplest molecule studied to date using VCD. The data will be compared with that previously reported for other trans-disubstituted cyclopropanes. A vibrational analysis and fixed partial charge results for this molecule will be discussed.
