Abstract

The results of recent experiments of SO2 pressure broadened by He, H2,O2, and N2 will be presented. The 42.2−31.3,131.13−120.12, and 264.22−263.23 transitions of the ground vibrational state of SO2 were studied between 236 and 500K. The results for the temperature dependence of the pressure broadening cross sections will be discussed and compared with the results of previous studies on other molecules. The transitions studied represent widely different energy levels and make possible a study of state-to-state variations in addition to the temperature dependence. General trends in the temperature dependence and room temperature pressure broadening parameters will be noted.
