Abstract

Using a tunable diode laser we have obtained the vibration-rotation spectrum of the ν4 bending fundamental of CF4 at 16-μm. From a least-square analysis of the frequencies for several hundred lines and a full diagonalization of the Hamiltonian, values for both the scalar and tensor constant have been determined. In addition, we have evaluated B4, the Coriolis constant ζ4, and the vibration-rotation operator δ. Data were obtained for the three isotopic molecules: 12CF4,13CF4, and 14CF4; and the spectroscopic constants determined for each. The values obtained are compared with those evaluated from previous work at lower resolution by Jones et al. (1).
