Abstract

Beam maser spectrometer systems were used to make high resolution measurements of J=1←2, K=0 and K=1 transitions in CH3CN and CH313CN. We believe that this is the first beam maser measurement of K=1 states in a symmetric top. Hydrogen and 13C spin-rotation tensor components were measured and analyzed to give data on magnetic shielding tensor components. Precise values for quadrupole coupling strengths are also obtained. High resolution microwave spectra of CD3Br and CH3CCD were obtained using the beam maser. This data was analyzed to obtain deuterium quadrupole coupling strengths.
