Abstract

Description

Beograd
Slide 55 is misidentified in the Photographer's notes. Here the description is corrected. The nun Jefimija (formerly Jelena, (c. 1349 - c. 1405), the widow of Despot Uglješa Mrnjavćević), is the first female Serbian writer. She embroidered the text with gold and silver thread on a red silk shrowd (67 x 49 cm.) in Ljubostinja monastery, which was used to cover St. Lazar's reliquary. Presently, it is in the Serbian Orthodox Church Museum.
