Abstract

Infrared and Raman spectra of ethylethylether-$d_{0}$ and ethyl-$d_{5}$-ethylether have been recorded below 500 $cm{-1}$ for both the gaseous and solid phases. The spectra of the annealed solids have been assigned as that of the trans-trans conformer whereas in the gas phase both the trans-trans conformer whereas in the gas phase both the trans-trans and trans-gauche conformers are present. A potential function for the methyl torsions of the trans-gauche conformer will be presented. The far infrared and Raman spectra of disilane-$d_{6}$ have been recorded in both gaseous and solid phases also. The spectra of the annealed solid indicate that there are two molecules per unit cell and that the site symmetry is lower than the molecular symmetry. The assignment of the low frequency spectra of the disilanes will be discussed.
