Abstract

In this experimental technique a pulsed nitrogen laser (337 nm) is used to generate excited state species. Two dye lasers are then used to generate the coherent anti-Stroke Raman spectra (CARS) to obtain vibrational information on the excited state species. From the absorption spectrum of the excited state species one may choose the CARS pump frequency to resonance enhance the CARS spectrum. By obtaining a CARS spectra at many pump frequencies an excitation profile may be obtained. From this information, geometry changes in the excited state may be obtained. Results to date will be presented.
