Abstract

The high resolution rotation-vibration spectrum of D2O has been obtained in the region 2600 to 3000cm−1. The one meter Fourier transform spectrometer of the solar telescope at the Kitt Peak National Observatory in Tucson was used with a 25 cm cell at 3 Torr pressure and at room temperature. The spectral resolution is 0.01cm−1. Allowed and forbidden transitions have been assigned to the ν3 fundamental band for J≤12 and K≤5. The ground state energies of Steenbeckeliers and J. Bellet1 are in general agreement with the observed combination differences formed from the assigned transitions. Upper state constants of the Watson Hamiltonian for the ν3 band have been determined from a nonlinear Least squares fit using the ground state constants.
