Abstract

Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy has been used to investigate the IR spectra of the X NCO (X = Cl, Br, I, and CN) and the X SCN (X = C1, Br, I, and SCN) vapor molecules from $4800 cm^{-1}$ to $400 cm^{-1}$. Vibrational frequencies and relative integrated intensities have been determined for each normal mode of vibration which occurs in this region. The similarities and differences observed for each related series of molecules will be discussed.
