Abstract

The "apartness" of Library IT within the modern research library is related to the kinds of mythologizing, stereotyping, and storytelling about both IT and libraries that we see in popular culture and reproduce in our own settings. Even as we continually rethink "the research library for the 21st century," these mental models can prevent the change we want to see. This talk explores the possibilities for rethinking IT and library initiatives to advance a more holistic, systemic way of understanding, envisioning, and accomplishing our work together.
