President of Reichsbank. 1938, drew laws which deprived Jews of wealth. Exempted from retail, wholesale trade, independent workshops, etc. Nuremberg: Life sentence for crimes against humanity. Released 1957 for ill health. Died 1960." A first-state impression [CMA 2001.034.210] has appliqué over "LL" in the word ill, possibly to cover lowercase letters with uppercase ones for increased legibility.
