Abstract

Venus spectra in the $1.3 \mu, 1.6 \mu$ and $2 \mu$ regions have recently been obtained by P. and J. Connes using a Michelson interferometer. Many new bands of carbon dioxide are identified in these spectra, some of which have never been observed in the laboratory spectra due to lack of either sufficiently long path lengths of absorbing gas or high enough resolution. Preliminary estimates of the relative abundance of $(O^{17}/O^{16}), (O^{18}/O^{16})$ and $(C^{13}/C^{12})$ are presented for Venus.
