Abstract

Oil field-brine contamination has been a problem for many years in Delaware County. The area covered by this investigation has been studied previously and was last monitored by Bruce Hulman in 1969. Previously it was studied by R. Boster in 1967, who predicted that the contaminated area would be cleared up by 1969-1972. Readings as high as 5000 parts per million of chloride were recorded in 1969, and at the present over 2,000 parts per million occur in a highly contaminated well during the rainy season. The only assurance is that the contamination is slowly dissipating with time.
