Abstract

A study of a recent rockfall in Conkles Hollow indicates that rockfall was not an important form of mass movement in the development of the Hollow. The local lithology, however, suggests that rockfall was an important form of mass movement in the development of the Hollow. The total mass of rock involved in the rockfall was determined by using two methods: (1) calculating the dimensions of the original sheet of rock, and (2) measuring the volume of the boulders comprising the talus.
