Abstract

A tunable dye laser (Rhodamine 6G) has been used to excite photoluminescence in a chemiluminescent flame produced by reacting Yttrium vapor with oxygen. Strong photoluminescence from the $A^{2}\Pi-X^{2}\Sigma^{+}$system has been observed at several wavelengths. The spectra are quite complex and the use of photoluminescence and excitation spectra In assigning the transitions will be discussed.
