Abstract

New measurements of the IR spectrum of $C_{2}N_{2}$ were obtained with the NBS BOMEM DA3.002 Fourier transform spectrometer equipped with a 20m White cell. The spectra of the $\nu_{1}+\nu^{1}_{5},\ \nu_{3}+v^{1}_{4}$, and $\nu_{1}-\nu^{1}_{5}$ combination and difference bands were recorded at an apodized resolution of $0.004 cm^{-1}$. Because of the low lying fundamentals $\nu^{1}_{4}$ and $\nu^{1}_{5}$ these bands are accompained by numerous hot bands which complicate the assignment process. the $\nu_{3}$ band system was also recorded yielding new measurements superceding those reported earlier [1]. The $\nu_{3}$ band of the $^{13}C^{12}CN_{2}$ isotope, present in the gas in natural abundance, was also observed. Results of the analysis of the $\nu_{1} - \nu_{5}^{1}$ band system will be presented.
