Abstract

Theatre Arts Group (TAG) seeks to provide opportunities for creative, artistic expression to underserved students of the Columbus area through theatre experiences, theatre education, and mentorship. We mentor and teach 20-25 students at a local high school, Columbus North International School, performing a show, putting on open mic nights, and taking them to local performances. Additionally, we began new programming in an elementary school, Hubbard Mastery School, teaching theater to 48 third grade children.

Description

IMPACT. 1: We mentor 25 high school students, spending at least six hours a week with them. Eight are seniors and will graduate; two have been accepted to OSU and will become TAG mentors. -- 2. We have partnered with Hubbard Mastery School and teach theater to third grade students. By the end of the semester, we will have worked with 48 students. -- 3. The Ohio School Board Association recognized TAG as an "Outstanding Program" for Ohio. Last May, we were awarded the Student Group Award for Excellence in Community Service Programming.
