Abstract

Analysis of new high resolution spectrograms of the β2Σu+X~2Πg transition of CO2+ (2900 {\AA}) has led to a more complete understanding of the rotational structure of the band at low quantum numbers. Various rotational perturbations and other irregularities in the p-type doubting of the β2Σu+ state can be explained if an interaction with a high vibrationa1 level of the a2Πu state is assumed. These results are significant in the interpretation of fluorescence branching ratios in CO2+.
