Abstract

A study is made of the Stark effect on the high resolution electronic absorption spectra of formyl fluoride (HFCO) and difluorodiazirine (CN2F2). The transition involved is nπ. From splittings of the rotational pP lines (using polarized exciting light) the dipole moment of the excited π is determined. In addition the Stark effect is used as an aid in the assignment of the CN2F2 rotational spectrum.
