Abstract

Previously we have used the temperature dependence of the fluorescence from bound mercury excimers to obtain the potential curves for the radiating $species.^{1}$ Recently, we have used a second laser frequency (in addition to the one used to produce the excimers) to stimulate upward transitions from these bound excimer levels. Some of the more highly excited excimers produced in this manner fluoresce to the ground state and allow us, by our previous technique, to extend our knowledge of excimer potential curves. Our results show potential curves extrapolated from ab initio multiconfiguration $Mg_{2}$ calculations are quite reasonable.
