Abstract
We have extended to 5.5 microns the infrared emission spectrum of the de excited $CO_{2}-N_{2}-He$ plasma reported by McCubbin and $Hahn^{1}$. The most striking feature of those spectra is the 00v - 00 (v-1) sequence of vibration-rotational bands. We have observed this sequence out to the 009-008 transition. The 01v-01 (v-1) sequence is also observable out to the 014-013 band. Helium tends to suppress many of the emission “hot” bands and to enhance the sequences involving the $v_{3}$ mode. Five intense CO emission bands appear from the region of the CO fundamental out to 5.5 microns, the limits of the detector sensitivity. These spectra will be interpreted in terms of the higher order vibrational constants and the potential function.
