Abstract
Crystals of ${FeC\ell^{3-}}_{6}$ doped $Cg_{2}NaYC\ell_{6}$ were prepared by the Bridgoman technique. Single Crystal absorption and MCD spectra in the region of ligand-metal electron transfer transitions were measured and interpreted. C terms dominate the MCD spectrum. Irreducible tensor operator techniques were used to treat effects in the excited states of this three open shell system. The energy ordering of Ligand donor orbitals is: $t_{1g} > t_{1u}(\pi+\alpha)>t_{2u} > {t_{1u}}(g+\pi)$.
