Description

Widely spaced white pine planted in 1945 in an old field at the Izaak Walton Memorial Forest. Note wide spaces between whorls showing rapid height growth. The purpose of wide spacing was to encourage natural reproduction of hardwoods and to defer necessity for early thinning. Item #5653
