Abstract

The vacuum-ultraviolet photolysis of vinyl fluoride isolated in argon and xenon matrices at temperatures between $4^{\circ}$ and $23^{\circ} K$ has been conducted through LiF, $CaF_{2}$ and Suprasil II windows. Significant concentrations of acetylene and additional reactive species are produced. One of the reactive products of photolysis is tentatively identified as the vinyl free radical. Discussion of the vibrational assignments, bonding and force field of the photolysis products will be presented.
