Abstract
The lowest electronic states of 2-, 3-, and 4-pyridine aldehyde and some deuterated pyridine aldehydes are investigated in the vapor and in methylcyclohexane matrix. The nature of their lowest electronic states are reported with particular reference to the distribution of sigma electron density.
