Abstract

The widths of oxygen-broadened carbon dioxide lines in the 10.6 $\mu m$ transition have been measured by using a stabilized single-line $CO_{2}$ laser as a $source^{1}$. The measurements were carried out at $296^{\circ}$ and for lower temperatures. The observed values are compared to the theoretical results obtained on the basis of the atom-atom model previously applied in the case of $N_{2}O^{2}$. At room temperature the agreement is better than 5 percent.
