Abstract
The present work attempts to determine the Green's function for an inhomogeneous elastic solid (also known as functionally graded material) subjected to body forces in cylindrical coordinates. Solutions are developed using classical techniques such as, separation of variables and integral transforms. The difficulties associated with integral transforms are highlighted and certain approximations are attempted to obtain solutions. The Green's function forms the most important part in developing solutions to boundary value
problems using the boundary element method (BEM).
