Abstract

This project, funded by the Office of Outreach and Engagement's 2016 Impact Grant and implemented by the Office of International Programs in Agriculture, seeks to revise the programs of study in Tanzania's Ministry of Agriculture Technical Institutes (MATIs) so that they better reflect the changing needs of Tanzanian agriculture and improve the performance and employability of their graduates. This will lead to wider improvements in the training of future Tanzanian extension professionals working on the front lines of agricultural development and food security.

Description

IMPACT. 1: Revision of student internship programs to assure that they address key constraints faced by Tanzanian farmers and agribusinesses. -- 2. Development of stakeholder advisory committees to discuss priorities for training, needed changes in courses being offered, and opportunities for new directions for certificate and diploma degree programs at MATIs. -- 3. Strengthening of linkages between DAECD and the MATI's, contributing to more effective and sustainable training of agricultural extension personnel to address critical challenges to food security.
